Black Dyke Band perform ‘Fanfare of a Nation’ at launch of brass festival

The Black Dyke Band performed Christopher’s work ‘Fanfare of a Nation’ at St David’s Hall in
central Cardiff last night. The band, who had an evening concert at the venue, performed the fanfare just before the main concert to launch a new Brass Event taking place at the hall in October 2013.

Nick Childs, resident conductor of the band, commented: ‘What a great piece – there’s some great sounds there.’

The piece, originally commissioned by the Greater Gwent Music Support Service in 2012 for brass dectet, was since arranged for brass band for the award winning Camborne Youth Band, who recorded it on their CD ‘A Bit of Cornish’ in late 2012.
