Christopher today led Severn Tunnel Band to a victorious win in the Third Section of the Welsh Regional Championships, held at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea. The band, who for the last couple of months have been preparing the test piece ‘Hollywood’, were up against seven other bands for two places to the National Finals in Cheltenham in September.
As a result of this winning performance, the band have been invited to compete at the National Finals, and also face promotion to the second section from January 2014 along with Pontypool Brass who came a terrific 2nd place.
A huge congratulations must go to all the band, particularly 17-year-old Owen Williams who won the best instrumentalist prize in the section. The band will next compete in Ebbw Vale on 18th May 2013.
