The fourth year Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama student has already received acclaim for his compositions, with horn star Owen Farr the latest high profile performer to commission a new work, entitled, ‘A New Dawn’ which was premiered in performance with the Cornwall Youth Brass Band last month.
Tongwynlais MD Steve Sykes commented: "I'm absolutely delighted with the appointment. I've been impressed with his preparation and application in rehearsal and that he has quickly established a good working relationship with our players.
His role as Composer in Residence is also a really positive and productive factor in the further progress of the band." Christopher added: "I’m really looking forward to working with Steve and Tongwynlais, and being a small part in an exciting time for the band, not least with their appearance at the forthcoming European Championships in Perth in May.
Principal cornet Gareth Hann added: "The band has responded well to Christopher's direction. To be able to appoint a new Resident Conductor so quickly helps to keep a focus in the band with a busy few months ahead. I know that Steve and Christopher will be a great combination for us and we're looking forward to that musical relationship developing further."
