Eminence Brass Quartet have recorded Christopher’s quartet, ‘Eminence’ on their latest CD, ‘Jewels’, set for release tomorrow under the Doyen label.
The work was commissioned and written for the group for the Durham International Festival of Brass where the quartet performed it in two recitals in July 2011. Named after the group, it showcases each of the instrumentalists both individually and collectively.
Quartet members Philip Cobb, Richard Marshall, Owen Farr and David Childs are arguably four of the best brass musicians in the country, with Phil holding the seat of Principal Trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra, Richard the Principal Cornet of Black Dyke Band, Owen the Principal Horn of Cory Band and David touring and performing extensively as a Euphonium soloist.
Since it’s initial performances in Durham, the group have performed it elsewhere across the UK, including a recital in Bournemouth as well as being performed by a student group at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.
