Dynamite! premieres at the Black Dyke Brass Festival

Christopher’s latest work, ‘Dynamite’ for mixed cornet and trumpet ensemble was performed today in Leeds Town Hall by a cornet section in excess of sixty players. The work was commissioned by the Principal Cornet of Black Dyke Band, Richard Marshall, especially for the event and workshop as part of the annual Black Dyke Brass Festival.

Stylistically, the work was a ‘party’ piece – something which was fun to play, and catered for all ages and abilities from pre-grade 1 right through to post grade 8 standard players. Including rhythmic playing, lyrical playing and a technical fugue toward the end, the work had something to challenge everyone.

Richard commented ‘It’s a brilliant work; I know if I ever need any more music, I’ll be emailing Christopher again, and I think you’d all agree we’ve all had fun here today playing it.’
